From the Month We Lived in Cars

40-something of the best (from over 1,100!) pics Bek's parents took over the course of our three week road-trip and vacay at Sunset Beach. Enjoy!

Alleluia Annie

Grammy catches A-bear in a candid moment, singing the Celtic Alleluia. The careful view will also observe a subtle Jude-pig adding his harmonizing vocals the mix. What a joy to be their Daddy.

A Day in the Life...

A long-time-coming family blog post that doesn't try to do more than share a few photo highlights from the weekend.

In the first picture, Annie is wearing the top to her humidifier, thereby marking this weekend as the one in which three Meltons (Jude and Bek, too) came down with some version of the cold/crud.  I didn't get off easy, either - I got mine early and gave it to them.

The second photo is of two recently completed baby blankets, now ready for delivery to dear family friends.  I began a third one, likewise for family friends, in yellow, with promises to follow it up with a fourth crazy-color blanket made up of all the scraps for Annie.

Third is a picture of two beautiful gals - Bek is especially radiant here.

Last but not least is a photo of Jude, who began eating rice cereal yesterday.  We have a video of the true first bites coming but it will be a little while because, well, we're raising two (wonderful) kids.

That's all for now - all best and God's peace to you.

Cleaning the Camera

Greets, peeps!

Cleaning off the camera today and sharing highlights from the last few weeks' Daddy/Annie dates (and a couple of good ones of J, for Mom's sake).  Promise me you'll click on (enlarge) at least one of the water-only shots.  The rain over Corpus Christi today left the bay a beautiful aqua-green.  "It almost looks like we live on those fancy beaches in Florida," Bek said.  Stunningly beautiful.

The other day I read a quote that said something to the effect of: "People get down because they compare other people's highlight reels to their own recurring bloopers."  Maybe because I'm all too aware of our family's daily, living blooper reel, I hadn't ever worried much about that on this page.  But just in case, to put the kibosh on your viewing these pics as highlights of an unreality, let me just say that 1) I am blessed beyond words to share life and love with Rebekah and the Bears, and 2) exactly because I know how difficult sharing that life can be, I hope the pictures witness grace: God breaking through in spite of ourselves and (God knows) far more than we deserve - or expect.

Peace always,
J+
